중국 대륙 도시 중 인터넷 속도가 가장 빠른 도시는 상하이인 것으로 나타났다.
상하이 현지 언론의 보도에 따르면 상하이 내 광케이블 인터넷 가입자가 260만명을 돌파했으며
인터넷 평균 속도는 16M에 이르는 것으로 나타났다.
또한 중국의 인터넷 속도 측정기관인 란쉰(蓝汛)과 해외 인터넷 속도 기관인 넷인덱스(NetIndex)가 발표한 통계에 따르면
상하이의 인터넷 속도가 중국 대륙에서 가장 빨랐으며 인터넷 속도 향상률도
전세계에서 가장 빠른 도시인 것으로 나타났다.
상하이의 인터넷 속도는 지난 2011년 이후 네 차례의 업그레이드를 통해 무려 6.9배나 향상됐다.
상하이텔레콤에 따르면 현재 상하이의 인터넷 사용자 중 광케이블 이용자가 70%를 넘으며
10M 이상의 광대역 네트워크를 이용하는 가정도 70%에 달했다.
상하이텔레콤은 오는 3월 1일부터 제5차 인터넷 속도 업그레이드를 실시할 계획이다.
업그레이드 대상은 주로 동케이블을 이용하는 가정, 기업으로 광케이블로 바꾸면 인터넷 속도가 최저 10M 이상으로
향상되며 동케이블 이용자도 최대 6M까지 속도가 빨라진다.
상하이텔레콤 관계자는 “올 연말까지 상하이 내 광케이블 이용자를 360만명까지 늘리고
인터넷 평균 속도도 32M까지 향상시킬 것”이라 밝혔다.
한편 세계 최대 CDN(Contents Delivery Network) 서비스센터인 미국 아카마이(Akamai)가 최근 발표한 통계에 따르면
중국 대륙의 지난해 3분기 인터넷 평균 속도는 1.6Mbps로 조사에 참여한 120개 국가 중 94위를 차지했다.
한국이 14.7Mbps로 1위를 차지했으며 다음으로 일본(10.7Mbps), 홍콩(8.9Mbps) 순으로 나타났다.
